Seeing as more often than not history is written by the victor, the oppressor, the recorder of said history, you could argue that it’s relative. Relative to the “side” that you happen to be on, Relative to the account that you are reading. Relative to whatever position it is that you happen to hold about that particular subject.
My personal view, yes there can be a right side to history but not this time. This time whatever “side” you happen to be on nobody wins. Whether you believe in the pandemic or the vax or the numbers being reported or not. Whether you believe you are invincible because you chose to or not to. Whether you are fearful or complacent or experience a complete range of emotions daily. NOBODY wins. Let that settle for a minute.
Last year we were kind. We smiled at strangers in the streets. We said hello. We put teddy bears in windows. We helped those that couldn’t get out or were vulnerable and needed help during lockdown. We actually got time to spend with our kids and go for walks and breathe. Yes actually breathe.
If there is a side to be on, that’s the side I choose. The one where compassion over rides fear. Where we help each other, whatever that looks like. Where we accept that people have their own lives and decisions that we cannot fully understand as we have never wholly walked in their shoes. Yes, even if we completely disagree with the choices others have made. The one where we realise that we are all part of this humanity at this time, in this place and that together we are much more likely to get through this than apart.

I wholeheartedly agree!! Concerning times we live in. I hope that neither side is ‘right’ and we all come out the other side happy, well and connected. We need to be there for all, no matter what!!
Lorraine – This is fantastic. What a necessary message of contemplation. I am 100% beside you in this.
